EP Cambridge is Australia’s largest Alpaca Stud with over 3600 alpacas currently resident on the Oakbank, Adelaide Hills, South Australian property. As the only truly Global Alpaca Stud, we maintain a highly trained group of individuals that selectively grade and hand mate over 90% of the breeding females, matching every female to exactly the right male to enhance not only the female’s positives but more importantly her negatives.
The property is home to the most prestigious of EP Cambridge’s breeding dynasties. Our purpose-built alpaca facility was completed in 2003 and comprises specifically designed alpaca care facilities alongside a trophy room, reception/welcome area and a boardroom for coffee and a friendly chat.
With every cria born, just like other stud livestock industries in the sheep, Bloodstock and cattle sector we check, record and correctly identify the resulting cria to its mother the day it’s born.
But the effort in monitoring and recording this data is completely worthwhile as it ensures that Ep Cambridge can consistently strive to further improve the pedigree of every one of the 3600 alpacas.
Quarantine Life at EPC
Each alpaca paddock has trees for shade, sheds for shelter and automatic water troughs. We substitute feed the animals with lucerne, oaten, clover and/or meadow hay through the year – all grown on company farms to ensure premium quality. Special care is given to weaners and older alpacas with a pellet and chaff mixture.
24-hour care is maintained at all times to ensure the continued health and safety of all the animals on the property. Our Veterinarian resides on the same road as our stud so is only minutes away. There are purpose-built yards for conducting matings as well as a hospital area for neonatal care. This also comprises a separate area for the treatment of sick animals.

In addition to this, we have an on-farm pre-export quarantine facility which is AQIS approved and has seen many alpacas jet on to international destinations such as New Zealand, the UK, Europe and China to name a few.
EP Cambridge has outstanding facilities both in Australia and the UK. The infrastructure of each of the properties has been specifically considered with Alpacas in mind. Each farm is set in the countryside in an area of breathtaking beauty and exceptional grazing potential.
