Alpaca Fiber Assessment-UK (AFA-UK) is an organization dedicated to the better understanding of alpaca fleece improvement designed to create better decision-making opportunities for forward thinking UK alpaca breeders.
By using more scientifically sourced genetic data, AFA-UK has set out to offer UK alpaca breeders a unique opportunity to draw upon the experience and expertise of Ian Watt, Alpaca consulting Services USA through providing a follicle testing service.
AFA-UK is delighted to announce that it has entered into an exclusive arrangement with Alpaca Consulting Services USA to provide UK alpaca breeders with a skin biopsy report detailing:
- Follicular density
- Secondary to Primary ratio
- Average Fibre Diameter of the overall fiber population in the biopsy sample
- Average Fibre Diameter of the primary fibres, and Standard Deviation
- Average Fibre Diameter of the secondary and derived secondary fibres, and Standard Deviation
- Primary to secondary ratio
- OFDA 2000 fibre report
- Average daily fibre growth, and
- a written commentary together with biopsy micrograph photograph and histogram.
